30mm rings with 1" inserts

Hi,

I recently purchased some 30 mm rings with 1" inserts. The rings and inserts were both covered in what I think was packing grease?

Should I use a de-greaser to remove this before mounting? Or is there supposed to be grease between the 30 mm rings and the 1" spacers? My guess is no...

I am very new to all of this so if some one could lea me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Remove the grease, you don't want lubricant between the rings, spacers and scope tube. You want them to grab each other solidly with no chance of them slipping.
