Chambered in a 6.5x300 wby, topped with a swaro with a BRH reticle, would be a pretty sweet setup. Antelope tag next year......hmmmm.

I have an older Mark V Ultra Lightweight - I will never sell that gun.

I can't imagine being disappointed with this one either.

I’d skip the 6.5x300 and go with the RPM.

Probably the most overpriced Weatherby yet.

I love Weatherby rifles. Being a lefty they are one of the few that make a wide range of models and cartridges in LH. Have a 257 in the Ultra light, a 460 Mark V and recently sold a 300 Bee. Have owned quite a few others. Guys talk about them not shooting well, never had one that would not do 3 into under a half inch yet, including the 460. My current 257 Bee will do that with factory ammo and hand loads. Show me another maker who can make big boomers shoot like that every time and on top of that they are very pretty to look at. You do get what you are paying for with them.

And I have owned two Mark V rifles that would not shoot sub moa with any load I tried. They were my most disappointing rifles ever. I now several other people that feel the same. It seems that they were not very consistent, some were excellent accuracy wise, and some very disappointing.

More palatable price, but its no Mark V backcountry. That's just my opinion based on the aesthetics...again, just a dream rig for me. I have no first hand experience with Weatherby, but I love the look and imagine the craftsmanship must be top notch.

I have a Vanguard Backcountry in 257. Great rifle and I'm sure it will do the same as a Mark V.

At the most basic level of functionality a Volkswagen will do the same job as a Porsche but,,,,,,,,,,,, it still isn't a Porsche.

My Vanguards were just as reliable, and more accurate than my Mark V rifles. For many years, the Vanguards also had a better accuracy guarantee.

I still have, and love, a few Mark V's and had/sold a few more. All were excellent, solid rifles that shot accurately and consistently. A coupe years ago, bought my son a Vanguard, but he "traded me" for one of my Mark V's - so I now own that one, and guess what, it shoots every bit as accurately and is every bit as reliable as any. After Dean2 helped me bed it, it became better yet - it feels like a precision rifle in my not so precise hands .....

Really hard for me to say anything bad about a Weatherby ......... what more can you ask for?
