Default 6.5 prc

Just picked one up and was wondering what folks are using for bullets and powder. I have N565 and RL26.

N565, 156 bergers were great out of my CA ridgleine 2850FPS and .5" groups. I sold that and have a defiance with a paradigm barrel now. Haven't had a chance to work out a load for it yet, just shooting the same load from the ridgeline. Same speed out of the new rifle and .75" groups. Cant complain I love this caliber love the 6.5 bullets!

Is your barrel 1-8"? Mine is and might have to try the Berger. Have you used the 156 on game?

1:8 and so far only deer and one antelope. All standard berger peformance, enters makes vital soup and then you find bullet fragments in the offside hide and rib cage.

Sounds like what the Ballistic Tip did to my deer a few seasons ago. Completely destroyed the lungs (30/06 165gr, 110yds)

Just shot a whitetail buck with mine today. It shoots 1/4 Moa with hornady 147gr ELDM’s.
Didnt take a single step. DOA. Entry side wound pic, onside lung and the heart.

This is the second whitetail with that gun and I must say the ELDM performs pretty well. Seems to turn everything to jello.

Factory ammo or handload? I was thinking of trying the 147 with RL26.

Acquired some RL26 and 147gr ELD-M. Will try this combo out and see how it performs.

6.5x300 is the fastest 6.5 on the market

The 6.5x300 adds 300-400fps, and reduces barrel life by a factor of three or so. I considered a 6.5STW but stayed with the 7mmstw, because the case is just too large for decent efficiency and barrel life with the .264" bore.

The 6.5 - 300 is about 10% faster with any given bullet weight, however you burn about 30% more powder so it's not nearly as efficient and much harder on barrels, it's a fast flat shooting son of a gun but be careful as it heats the barrel up fast.

Anybody looking for 6.5 ELDM, Barton's Big Country here in GP had a pile of them in stock when I was there the other day. 140 gr, 147 gr, as well as 153 gr A-Tip Match. Figured it might be helpful to mention.

Dropped a nice mature whitetail doe on the weekend with my PRC using factory 147gr. Quarter size entry and exit holes. Shot was about 50yds.
