Is that because the only thing left in those lakes, that people can be reasonably assured of catching, is walleye. I now fish for Walleye because that's about all that's left.

Dropping a truck load of perch in PCR in the spring and fall would not be a bad idea. I do think the Burbs at PCR are definatly over fished. Limits need to be lowered, 1 over "24 and 2 under is plenty.

Looking at the way burbs are fished is a great model for why we can never and should never allow any sort of non tag harvest on Walleye.

There probably will be in a couple years. Mind you, The Mercury levels there still are a bit high, So they won't issue any tags until the levels are near non existent.

I have to agree with one thing mentioned in this forum. The burbot here are hugely exploited, I live very close to PCR and am out a lot during the winter. There is very rarely less than 50 trucks at the lake, in fact on weekends Ive seen 50+ fisherman in several spots on the lake. And as a few leave a few more arrive, I have watched large groups of people keep every burbot they catch including ones ten inches or less (apparently they are good to can or something) but if your taking every little burb you catch from tiny to huge, how will there not be a future problem? I strongly think that there should be a catch limit and size limit put in to place here, its the only way I see there being burbot here in the near or far future. Also have to agree with the idea of not allowing walleye to be kept any time soon, the lake is not ready for it yet and it would be a disaster. Just my opinion.

What do you base this on?

What makes you think the levels will ever be non-existent for this lake or any other?

Have you read the Hg testing report?

This is the problem with every lake only change the word burbot to whatever species is in the lake. People dont seem to realize that its takes many years for a fish to reach maturity and only 15 seconds to pull it out of a hole and kill it for dinner.

Sensible limits need to be put in place no matter what the lake is. Sure some lakes are better then others for a specific species. View this thread for that conversation ( http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=166359 )Why try to change a lake to make it great for every type of fishing? why not just try to enhance whats already there?

Why do you think burbs are bottom feeders,, any fish will pick food off the bottom, but burbs do like active bait. The moment you deem any species ugly is an anthropomorphisation and not beneficial to conservation of any species.

Early brits found bull trout to not be worthy of some standard they felt. And, where are we now with bulls?
