Youth Partner License Success
Rather than derail the other thread about youth partner tags, I started this one.
One of our girls really enjoys hunting so I try to get her on hunts where she has a reasonable chance of success and decent weather. Two years ago when she was 15, we made an agreement that if I couldn't get an arrow in a bull moose, the rifle tag was hers. I didn't get a bull so she was signed up as a youth partner and killed a 50" moose (we saw a great bull that would have went 55" but he was on the wrong side of the river). My friend and his 15 year old daughter were with us, and we had a great trip and hopefully encouraged 2 youngsters to remain life long supporters of hunting.
This fall, my daughter shot an antelope as a partner on her mom's tag. The weather was good, we spent a couple of days with friends who live in antelope country, and overall had a great trip. We made a long stalk that ended with a good shot.
I drew a 446 tag several years ago and didn't think of the youth partner license until Torkdiesel brought it up to me. By then it was near the end of the season, too late to find a youth that would make the trip, and I ended up not filling the tag as I couldn't find a ram over my self imposed minimum of 170" or ten years old. I blew a great opportunity for a youngster to get his or her first ram and wish I would have 999'd the tag until my kids were older, or offered the tag to an ambitious young hunter.
The youth partner tag is a great program, especially for those of us who are along for the experience and don't care who pulls the trigger. These are two of the most memorable hunting experiences of my life.

Awesome ! Congrats to you both. I think the youth partner license is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our kids to get them hooked on hunting. I believe any youth who hunts is a better person overall.

Congrats on the speed goat. I drew my tag last year and my kid wont be 12 until. Next year. He will be 30 when he draws his first antelope tag. But do have a priority 10 for bull moose and bull elk that he can shoot just need to find a good zone to hunt for him. Thanks for sharing that antelope photo.
Get those kids out there to enjoy hunting and the great outdoors.

NCC, you are a class act. The world needs more guys like this. Beauty goat!
My son has been the recipient of multiple tags from Elk11. Some of my favourite memories were of watching Elk put down the shooting sticks, call out yardage, and tell my boy when to take the shot. I got to watch it all unfold. Nothing better. Now, if Elk ain’t with us, it ain’t the same for my son. Mentors. Awesome.
When we get to a certain point, who cares who pulls the trigger. The kids sure love it. I also feel that when they get our age, they will do the same in turn.
Youth Partner Tags are just outstanding.

coyote hunt pic and details
We got after the local coyotes last weekend and during the second set we both emptied our rifles. Never thought I would get coyote fever but we were spraying and praying on the first group that rushed in 27 seconds after the calling started. After the initial volley, we settled down and got a few on the ground. If anyone is interested, check out Coyote Day with Lacey on you tube.

NCC good on you
My father would have never done that for me. I never even got first crack unless he didn’t have a tag for the animal.
Unfortunately neither of my kids got the hunting bug so unless that changes I don’t see myself being able to do this for my kids
Good message and hope others follow your example
