Yesterdays check produced a critter ive never seen in alberta yet,35LB BOAR COON

Nice catch. That raccoon would make a nice canoe mount. And it's big enough for christmas supper.

There's a few caught in southern Alberta every year for the past several decades. Where there is one raccoon there is probably a couple more.

Funny you posted, I’ve killed two this week in my coyote snares, one was all of 30 lbs I bet. Fattest critters I’ve skinned

More than just a few , we live trapped 18 one summer next to our grain bins 5 years ago ..

there are but the area I caught those ones in was crap for yotes last year,but couple guys I hunt with seen tracks in that area this year but not gonna go there for just a cat

FYI
Back in the 70s I had a pet Coon. Ont.

Topped out at 55 lbs


Few years ago a farmer / trapper (dead now) caught one near my place (Westlock) in a Beaver set on a dam crossing. Didn't see it.
He said it was the first one he had ever seen.

There was an indigenous population of 'coons along the Simonette river SW of Valleyview in the '60's. A Native trapper brought one in with his lot of furs to have tagged.
As I recall it was fairly large, but not as big as this one.
