Good reason to shoot the TSX....heh
Funny story from this year with my elk. I shot the elk once and blew through both shoulders at 328 yards with the TSX. On the second shot, I sent one towards his spine as he ran straight away up an opposite hill. The bull anchored but we never found an exit hole. Did a gutless quarter so didnt see much inside either, though there was a TON of damage from what we saw.
Got home, butchered the elk and all looked well. When cutting shoulder meat we cut right up to the hole of the TSX with no bruising issues at all. Literally no meat damage due to the bullet. Cut backstraps, etc and all was good.
One month later I cooked up some thick backstraps and we ate em. The next morning we had one left over for breakfast with eggs and while cutting it into strips, a TSX fell out. Perfectly in tact and starting to mushroom well. At close to 400 yards it had really decent performance. Weighed it at 139gr. The AMAZING thing is from cutting that backstrap, cooking it, etc not once did we notice that it had a bullet in it.....really wild.
We ate the steak for breakfast that morning....no lead poisoning!!!
