We had one today.....very beautiful. See them every spring, but only briefly. Never stick around. Where do they nest and spend the summer?

How come you get all the nice birds showing up? You must be very observant. Saw a oriole 5 or six years ago, very beautiful

I saw one Sunday at my place. I usually have a pair best every year. They love old growth boreal. Beautiful birds, and not too hard to call.

They are a parkland bird. I’ve seen them nesting around the Sherwood Park area. Similar to a cedar waxwing’s liking. It’s not that they leave, it’s the males molting and blending in.

Boreal birds that frequents central Alberta during colder winters is the Evening Grosbeak and the Bohemian Waxing. Stunning birds.

Grape jelly is their favorite food, they will eat orange slices also.

X2, I've seen a couple, but I put them on my rare birds list.

Hey Bushmaster, Yes just put a spoonful in a saucer We had a nesting pair last year and they stayed all summer. The female robbed the fiber matting from my wife's hanging flower pots and built a nest in the trees near by. I could not find grape jelly, so i used orange. They seemed ok with it, and I kept fresh orange slices out for them. Phil.
