Default Now I get it why so few care about climate change. Survey says:Oil more important than water

This is just crazy that a majority of Calgarians ranked oil over water as the most important natural resource.

http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-...ant-than-water
“Fresh water is still seen as Canada’s most important natural resource by far,” said the survey, noting it’s up to 49 per cent from 47 per cent a year earlier.

Except in Calgary, where 55 per cent of respondents said oil and gas is the main natural resource.

Only 28 per cent chose water.

Are these guys flippin' nuts? Go tell the farmer or rancher, even those getting significant lease revenues, which is more important?

Of course, I bet there isn't a soul on AO who would put oil over water, is there? Well? Is there?

Deerhunter has a point... how reliable is that poll? Is the sample size big enough? How are questions framed, etc?

Perhaps some didn't understand the poll and were voting in what brought more revenue in...don't think anyone would stranded on a deserted island would choose a jug of 10w30 over a jug of water....

Looks to me like TROC sees water as the most important resource because it is a major part of their economies not because they fear a shortage. In Alberta ?Calgary Oil and gas pays the bills so it makes sense it would get top billing . If Alberta were a Hydro electric and fisheries based economy Oil and gas would drop way down the ladder here as well.
TROC doesn't seem to understand that Oil and gas in Alberta for the most part has been keeping us all afloat till now.

Survey suggests is the title in the article, but avb titles his post that the survey says. Thank you for the inflammatory spin. You are like our own little cbc.

LOL....

Colette Derworiz makes a wonderful parrot.

AV, did you notice in the report that the city of Vancouver cares even less about water than Calgary?

Or that Men are 50% more likely to be concerned about water than Women?

I have had many opportunities to take part in phone surveys and thought at one time that I could express my views on the subject of the survey but soon found that I wasn't allow to. The questions that were asked and with the given multiple choices offered me to select from hindered me from expressing my views.

I now treat these phone surveyors the same way that I do all the telephone marketers and that is by immediately telling them and in no uncertain terms to "Fxxx right off and don't phone again".

They certainly have heard these words directed towards them before and likely many times, but I like my response as it is brief and directly to the point.

Ummmm just like every post he makes on this topic. I wonder how many members could consistently troll other members with multiple posts day after day and not be sent to banned camp

I don't think he is actually trolling other members .
However , surveys such as this one are continually misconstrued or misunderstood

The survey report has some interesting information, interpret with your own agenda and biases.

My general conclusion from the survey, people care about having a healthy life including a home and a job.

A PDF of the report is available at this link.

That is true!
I take a quick look at threads like this and if there are forum rules broken I do what I was appointed to do- no matter who it is .
However , unless I missed something I haven't seen any rules broken in the threads that avb3 has posted

Talking Moose the reason that thise threads, posts and people you mentioned are gone suspended or banned is because of flaming , insults, and absolute fear mongering in one form or another .
None if those are present in this thread that I can see .

What should you do when a thread gets mean spirited and personal, let it escalate?

I sometimes feel like when talking to sales people at my door under "no soliciting" sign I have posted on it - I realize it's just there job, but still get annoyed a bit.
Unfortunately, I think became biased against "green" cause as a result of persistent and very annoying AVB3 pressure on this forum.

Sometimes I wonder what goes through the heads of the people who voted for the ndp.
Then after reading some of his posts, I am no longer left wondering.

Is avb3 an NDP guy?
I dunno, because I don't pay much attention to a person's affiliation of church or state , creed , colour or sex for that matter .
I only pay attention to what is posted.
