Cool Scope removal?

Recently bought a new Ruger that comes with open sights and had the scope mounted at the store. Never actually sighted in the open sights, but now I'm wanting to in case something happens to the scope while out in the middle of nowhere. (also thinking of just ditching the scope altogether as this is my short range bush gun.) Do you think it would work if I just left the scope in the rings and loosened the bases. Kind of a not so quick detatch mount. I'm sure the point of impact would change after putting it back on, but if I can just screw the bases on and off it would save a bit of work re-mounting. Any thoughts? I don't see why it wouldn't or shouldn't be tried but I'd be choked if I somehow gibbled my new scope.

I think you are actually talking about removing the scope and rings from the bases...not losening the bases...is this correct? If so, yup you can do it but you are correct that you'll have re-zero each time.

Yeah, guess I didn't word that right. Rugers have their bases machined in.
