Default My 2023 monster whitetail

Never thought I’d have the kind of luck i had this November… i Had no idea this deer was in the area - this part of southeast Alberta is more known for big mule deer than whitetails. I hunt a high pressure ranch, and down here a 140+ buck is usually considered a shooter. I was hoping for a 160ish buck or better this year. And then this big bugger stepped out!
An AFGA scorer measured him at 230 gross and 218 net. I’m going to take it to an official B&C scorer this weekend to see if they match up.

Very cool..good on ya ... an interesting strategy employed by a few is to hunt the high pressure areas and zones cuz the thinking is anything that survives there is big for that reason..justa thought

No - didn’t skip whitening… i had just taken it out of the beetle box to send pics to a few people. It’s been degreasing and whitening with peroxide since then. It’ll be a shoulder mount, but until the taxidermist gets the hide back from the tanner, i wanted to make it into a euro so it can hang on the wall for the next couple months.

Nice. Will make a dandy shoulder mount. A buck with that much character deserves a name. What did you name him?
