Default Surrey 'Creep Catchers' claim RCMP officer caught in sting

As reported by Yvette Brend with CBC News;

"A vigilante, pedophile-hunting group in Surrey B.C. claims to have caught an RCMP officer outside a local shopping mall as he met one of its decoys posing as a 14-year-old girl."

This evening news on CTV showed an Surrey RCMP officer making the statement that the officer has been arrested and now is in jail.

Obviously guilty by the way he ran. I've kinda got mixed emotions about this. I think it's good that these creep catchers are doing what they're doing but it can surely screw a innocent guys life that is at the wrong place at the wrong time. I think it could quite easily be anyone of us stepping outside a restaurant to talk on the phone and next thing you know you're on tv or the face books.

You are correct - he wouldn't have ran if he wasn't guilty.

Being "in the wrong place at the wrong time" wouldn't explain meeting an underage decoy in an arranged meeting.

I doubt there is an innocent victim or poor guy in this picture.

I hope his life is ruined. It the least we could do for him.

It can't be about an innocent guy being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One can be absolutely certain that all the communications, and in all forms, that were held over the full length of time between the creep and his prey were carefully and accurately recorded so criminal charges will stick.

In this case no he's not innocent. I hope his life is ruined as well.
I don't know how they single these guys out or if they know what he looks like before but I just think scenario about where I'm out for dinner with the wife and I step outside for a business call then next thing you know I'm on tv.
I do commend these catchers on their efforts though and beleive they are doing a good thing.

Of course the RCMP and the other police forces don't approve of the creep catchers, they are making the police look bad by catching the creeps that the police aren't catching. And they also embarrassed the RCMP and sheriffs by exposing some of their member's illegal activities.

Absolutely. I've been listening a little bit to the police scanner and they are hot and heavy giving out speeding tickets. Not much on true crime though

I have nothing against the RCMP or any Police Force for that matter. That said I cannot understand why at least once a month we are hearing in the news about some RCMP member somewhere in Canada under investigation for some sort of sex crime be it rape, sex with a minor or soliciting sexual favors of some kind or sexual harassment of female officers. Is it that these creeps tend to try to become police so they can hide in plain sight and use their badge to further their creep activities. Or is it the RCMP screening tests need a major revision to weed these sickos out before they have their 1st day of training?
I know I don't have the answers but I also know things have to change a lot in their ranks because Canadians are losing faith and trust in them everyday including me.

Smile Finally some good from the internet

I think this is wonderful. Dr. Ben Dover is still doing his part with 419 fraudsters but the well is sort of running dry (that was the idea) with email providers shutting them down.

We need to stick together on this sort of thing.

Now we know why the cops don't condone groups like this.

The reason they don't condone it is because CC's aren't "getting anyone off the streets". There hasn't been one conviction or charge. All they're doing is forcing these guys to go deeper underground and be more careful about who they contact and how.

Plus they've already targeted innocent people and made mistakes.
They seem more interested in how many "likes and shares" they get and donations for money, rather than actual evidence that can be used in a court of law.
You can bet that the second any of these "pedo's" get home after meeting "Creep Cathers", the first thing they'll do is sweep their devices clean of any and all evidence.

The cops are also doing this exact same thing, but instead of blabbering about it on social media, and running around with face tattoos and swearing into the camera every second word, they're actually collecting evidence, making charges and arresting people.

Do you have any credible statistics that show how many of these deviants that the police have convicted of this type of crime in Canada in the past year? And of the ones that have been convicted, how many have re-offended?

Nope. No idea. Can you find some for me? Whatever the number, I'd make a wild guess that it's more than what CC's has.
I don't see what Recidivism has to do with CC's success rate.

Does this help? This is just for Alberta:

http://stoppedophiles.ca/convicted-AB.html

As an example what the police ARE doing:

Quote:
A twice-convicted pedophile expressed his fantasy to open a daycare and sexually abuse babies to undercover Toronto Police officer Dayna Boyko.

At one point, he sent an online message to the officer, expressing his desire to abuse infants because “babies don’t tell.”

Boyko was posing as a twisted single mom online in March and April 2014 when registered sex offender Frank Cunningham, 35, proposed a sick plot to finance their move to a trailer park north of North Bay.

“I will, should be nothing over a year if we play (code for molesting),” wrote Cunningham, a self-admitted pedophile, who confessed he had abused his girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter in 2004.

Through online communications, Boyko pretended on Craigslist to be the mother of a five-year-old boy and two-year-old girl, willing to permit her fictitious children to be sexually assaulted.

Boyko was working with the York Regional Police Internet Children Exploitation unit and Const. Diane Smart. Cunningham was captured by York and Toronto officers as he came to meet the fictitious single mom near the Finch subway station in April 2014.

The registered sex offender also stated he wished to have a child by the single mom so he could “play” — code for abuse — their baby.

Cunningham admitted the bizarre details as he pleaded guilty Monday before Justice Cindy Johnston to arranging to commit sexual interference (abusing minors), accessing and possessing child pornography, and defrauding the Bank of Montreal out of $12,000 through a credit card scam.

So you don't know if our courts are convicting anyone, or if those people that our legal system does convict are re-offending? In other words, you don't know if our police forces/court systems are having any effect as far as reducing this type of thing? With no data to prove otherwise, these Creep Catchers may be doing just as much to reduce this type of thing by scaring away some of the creeps. Personally, I hope that they keep doing as they are doing.

*edited* read above. Dozens of convictions and lists of those still in prison. And CC's aren't "scaring anyone away"...they're merely driving them underground and making them more careful. They're not "stopping" anyone.

I could do some more googling, if you're really interested, although I'm quite busy with work and stuff today. I could teach you how to Google for yourself, if you like, Or you could just continually bring up stupid arguments for the sake of arguing.

I DO know for a fact, there hasn't been one conviction of anyone that CC's has exposed. I wouldn't be surprised if this latest RCMP member went straight home and wiped all his evidence clean, and any investigation will only show he planned to meet with someone...(which can't lead to a conviction, as that is not illegal)

That data spans over ten years, and much of it is for possessing or distributing child pornography. As well, one case resulted in a conviction for two counts of luring children, and the person was released on parole in less than a year. When you look at how many creeps that creepcatchers have exposed, and consider that they are just a few people, there must be a lot of child luring going on in Canada, and the police are only catching a very , very small percentage of them.

If I knew how, I would post that little pic of the guy eating popcorn.

I did see that in the news today that the officer is in custody.

And if the one RCMP officer is convicted, how do you suppose the number of convictions per CC member this year compared to the number of convictions per RCMP officer in Canada this year will compare?
