Default 2013 National Fly Fishing Championships - Calgary, Alberta

One or two Alberta anglers needed to join our experienced team at this year National event. This is a week long event that will need your full commitment. September 22-27 are the dates. Two days of practice and three of competition. Three river sessions and possibly two stillwaters will make up the event. $300.00 entry fee. NO Indicators Allowed! This is a grueling week, so be in shape. We will be rooming together as a team with nightly meetings.

Equipment Needed - a minimum of one 10 foot #6 or #7 weight rod with a variety of lines. Sinking lines in 2,4,6 or 3,5,7 will do as well a floating or midge tip.

Two of the following - #4, #5, or #6 river rod setups for the Bow River.

Experience would be an asset but passionate fast learning anglers will be considered.

An unbeatable experience for any Fly Fisher person

I am on Duckbrat's team this year, and have fished a couple competitions now.

I have to say, that fishing in these competitions is a great experience. If you love to flyfish, and enjoy a challenge, this might be for you.

Looking forward to fishing with the team this year.

I will be able to forward more information closer to the event when beats beats and sections are chosen. Thanks.

Jay, shouldn't be too much of a concern guiding on the competition sections, they will be quite spread out there will end up being 55 anglers spread out between the weir and Policemans, most folks won't even realize a competition is going on. And yes the beats will remain a secret until the competition.

Thanks Colin,
I wasn't thinking about the clients in my boat, I want those competing to see the best our river can give.. I'll just stay above the wier...... it's better up there anyways

Glad to see your getting a team together again Duck. We will see you there for sure. My Tight Lines team will be there again. Can't wait. This should be an interesting competition.

You going to Spruce Meadows this weekend? If so I will see ya there.

Rob
