375 h&h
Just picked up a 375 H&H and am curious what guys that have them recommend for bullet weight. It will be primarily used for African plains and dangerous game. It seems like there are quite a few choices and would like to know what you have had luck with in the field.

I load the 270 gr Barnes TSX over 75 grs of H414 for a friend. It shoots tiny little groups out of his model 70.

Pretty sure my buddy used to use 300gr swift Aframes. They sure flattened moose.

I used a 300gr Tsx on my Yukon moose. Then I loaded some 160 gr Speer for WT, which I was unsuccessful with. But anyhow, great caliber with much potential. And the recoil is quote manageable, much softer than a .338 WM for example.

I like using 250 grain Sierra bullets for deer, and they work good on elk and moose too. The 300 grain Sierra bullets work good on the bigger animals, but don't open up as much as I'd like on deer. They work great on coyotes with a number of bang flops with no big hoes to sew.

I used 250gr soft point factory loaded ammo during my trip to SA a couple years ago. The 250gr worked well on a Kudu bull at 260 yds.

250 ttsx
Mine really liked the 250 TTSX on top of a good dose of Reloader 15. Don't have my book infront of me, but seem to recall around 2830 fps as the average with very good accuracy.

270 Barnes TSX over 4831. 2700 fps, under 1/2" for 3 shots. Have killed Wild Boar, deer, bear, moose, deer and grouse with it. All bang flops, even one really large pig I hit poorly never went anywhere. With the smaller guns that pig would have been a track and chase job for a couple of hours.
I use 220 grain Horn SP and 245 grain Cast for plinking and target practice because they should well and are cheap but for hunting I just carry the one load above.

375 h&h
I load 270 grain A frames over n540 with great results though if I was going to Africa I would probably be more inclined to run 300 grain A frames though

.375
I use the nosler 260 gr partiitions for mine. Everything from coyotes to moose! A well constructed bullet always seems to do less damage to the meat, but just make sure that your gun likes them and you get a recipe that groups well with them first. Incidently, I am currently on my fourth 375, and they are typically some of the most accurate hunting rifles in my safe. One of these days I will find one that is too nice to trade off, and keep it around for a while. Good for anything on the planet.

Used to own a ZKK602 in ouch and ouch. Very accurate with HDY 300gr RN and 73gr RL15. Didn't shoot lighter bullets very well, but why would you want to?

I'm using 235 TSX with H4895 (77ish grains, I would need to go to the shop and pull my notes). they are coming out of the barrel at 3020fps and it is an accurate load coming out of my Sako 85 with a 24" barrel. I used it on plains game in RSA and recovered only one perfectly petaled bullet from my Kudu.
I've never shot a buffalo so I'm not going to even comment on what to use. Here is a link though to a wealth of knowledge.
