.44 magnum cast bullet diameter

I'm looking to buy some cast bullets. The question is .430 vs .431 diameter. The rifle is a Rossi ranch hand ('92 action with 12.5 inch barrel). I've never slugged the barrel but I have heard of rifle barrels being slightly overbored. It might have been in regards to a marlin 1894.

I've only shot jacketed bullets and they are minute of tin can at 50 yards. Ramble over. Any thoughts?

Buy some .430 if possible and see if you can chamber a dummy round. Bigger the better as the jacket bullet I think are .429 or .430. I load cast in antiques so the bore sizes are always a bit off but you have a new firearm. Lyman has some good data on cast loads. Lead will bump up in diameter with pressure so you may get good accuracy with a 0.429 but it's a trial and error thing.
