I'm not being judgmental. Good video. Just wondering...

Why would you rough skin a beaver when clean skinning with a fleshing tool saves time and effort in a long run? When I used to teach the Alberta trapping course 20+ years ago we encouraged clean skinning beaver. When you were done skinning a beaver there was very little to be fleshed and the pelt was almost ready for the board. Time wise, clean skinning saves time and there is no "knicking" of the skin side.

How long does it take you to clean skin a beaver. I can skin in less than 3 minutes and flesh in about 5 minutes on my knee.

I used to clean skin, it probably takes longer than rough skinning and fleshing.
If I was going to do lots of them I’d rough skin and beam flesh. If it was more of a small time hobby kind of thing I’d probably do the clean skinning like I used to.

I've done lots now so I'm fairly quick. They flesh easy it's just like doing a big beaver.

How you feel about a trip to Montana to skin/flesh a few beavers for me?? That's crazy fast or I'm super slow....

Remember to take those fleshing and make a marten / Fisher bait ball or 2. Normal I try to get 2 or 3 out of the one fleshings. Tie them with wire and freeze them. They make quick and conveniant bait and you can still sell the rest of the carcass for bear bait.

There is the old saying, “There’s more than one way to skin a cat” - now INSERT Beaver! No right or wrong way, its whatever works best for you. I have tried all methods and settled on a hybrid 1/3 clean skin and 2/3 fleshing beam . If I had the secret weapon at GFW , I might switch methods though 🤣
