From what I have read, a blow tube is an absolute must with black powder. That and having the right combination and amount of lube to keep the bullet greased all the way to the end of the barrel.
I found this to be an an interesting and informative read.............

I have not yet put a single round down the barrel of my Uberti so I've been trying to glean as much info as possible before doing so.
I'm getting closer though as my son and I have begun our bullet casting and sre sitting with about 50 perfect projectiles so far. This has not been an easy venture either !!! There is way more to it than just mixing your alloy, turning up the heat and pouring away.
Still need to swage and lube these, then start the actual loading procedure after that !! There again, that will probably be a whole new venture as well. What did I get myself into.......................

A blow tube is easy to make with a bit of clear tubing and a spare case.
I use them , and they do work to help soften the BP fouling.
That , coupled with a good lube goes a long way to keep powder fouling down.
it does nothing for lead fouling however.
The proper mix of lead and lube is the key there for most guns.
