Default Edm sports radio gone

BCE has shuttered TSN1260 today. I was listening to the reg morning guys up to 9 am then only elevator music. AM radio is a tough business in these days of streaming and podcasts. Lots of staff now looking else where in a limited field. I

Yeah, I wasn't impressed!
I now need to find something else to listen to on the way to and from work.

I was pretty sad to hear that TSN 1260 is gone. I really enjoyed the morning show with Dustin Nielson and then again The Gregor Show with Strudwick. They were very entertaining.

I was basically 100% a 960 guy, but with George coming on board, I found myself checking out 1260 more and more frequently. Disappointing to hear it's not an option anymore.

Absolutely.

I listened to them on my drive to work this morning, just like everyday. When I get to work my radio is tuned in to 1260 all day and again listen on the drive home. Had to step out for a couple of hours and get back to elevator music.

We need another sports radio in Edmonton. More ched i guess.

“ Bell Media, which owns a huge chunk of Canada’s MSM, is firing journalists. Hundreds of them. Bleeding ad revenue to evils like Google and Facebook, the media giant is ‘integrating horizontally’ which means there’ll be one single, solitary newsroom to create content for various platforms. Like CTV national news. BNN. CP24. Local television operations. Bell’s also dumping a bunch of radio stations. Mostly in Alberta and Ontario.

More and more we’re losing perspective. Love it or not, the mass media provides a spectrum of news, researched, verified, organized by relevance and covering a mass of topics. The more hits it takes, the greater the threat to society”.
Greater Fool Garth Turner

Good quote on what is happening with media.

That’s a bummer. One of the stations I always listened to when I came to visit the folks! There’s something about AM radio on the prairies that I find nostalgic and enjoy immensely!

Default Bummer

Oh man, I am a die hard 6:00er and listen to the Gregor show on the way home from work. This is a kick in the pants!!

The search for the sire never got finished......tales of the north will be no more. This is a sad day in Edmonton radio history.

Huge bummer. So much great talent on 1260. Lowetide, Jamo, Dusty, Yaremchuk, Gregor, list goes on. I hope someone quickly launches a new sport radio station in EDM again.

I'm a 6:00er too. It was damn weird driving to work this morning. I just left the radio off. I'll give you a huge conch today!

Michelle Rempel put up a vid yesterday, 6 radio stations and 1500 employees. Like she said, MSM is now hurting from the policies they begged the Libs for.

This was my feeling exactly - I feel a bit sad today.

Especially the way that Bell chose to do it.

I think you're right.

None of those stations are ones that I listen to, but I do empathize with all of those who are now out of work.
