Angry Getting Scammed on Gunpost

Hi guys,

I made an account here after getting scammed on gunpost and I found an identical ad in the buysell on this forum.

Im not sure if the guy on here just had his ad copied onto gunpost by the scammer or what so if someone has experience with the poster here that could clear it up.

This is the ad that was copied on gunpost word for word with the 1st two photos.

http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=357583

the scammer had also posted this ad

I have PMed Sea Shepherd on here with no response. Many emails to the address listed on gunpost twicearns12@gmail.com. Maybe if you know Sea Shepherd could you check too see if hes not frozen in his apartment.

Anyway ill be shipped COD from now on.

Yup that works if your selling. If buying you are banking on the seller shipping the item after you have sent the funds.

How did the guy get three positives on his feedback going back to 2012. Very disturbing.

I texted Mike (Sea Shepherd) we shall see if he responds. I’ve dealt with him before and never had any issues.

Agreed, I don’t see why sellers balk so much at sending COD. That way both parties are pretty safe.

Some people aren't willing to wait two weeks for the COD payment to show up at your door.

I am 100% a believer in CASH up front. Sorry, my stuff, my rules. Never had a issue so far. Sometimes I will "trust" someone and hold it for them, but it had better be a low ticket item. The biggest run around is people who say they will take something and then back away. So, no COD for this cowboy.

I don't release the password to the seller until I have a Tracking # and it shows that it has been accepted by the courier company, pretty simple.

You expect someone to ship you a rifle before you pay them?

No, the seller can see that the EMT is waiting, the cash is no longer in my hands, it is in limbo with the bank, I've never had anyone balk at this process and if they did, I would think something is up.

I do 98% of all my purchases online and I have never been scammed, yet. Yes someone could send me an empty box but then I would have them charged.

There is risk obviously when purchasing from forums and the only way you can limit that risk is in face to face interactions.

I'm confident with my process

That is going to give you a false sense of security. Most banks allow you to set up your account to auto deposit, without a password. If you EMT funds to me, you are going to get an email saying the money is mine....and your password protected nothing. It's best that everyone is aware of this.

An emt with no password is no different than no emt at all. Takes 5 seconds to cancel it

Be careful however you purchase online.

I just googled his email address "twicearns" and found another ad recently put up on firearms canada. It has been deleted but its still in the google cache.

If that was your move, with your feedback I wouldn’t deal with you. An emt that you haven’t provided a password for isn’t an emt. I ship, you cancel. So if there was something up it’s more likely on your end, not mine. My feedback speaks for itself which is what I use to judge if I’m willing to do a forum transaction with someone. Between the multiple internet sites I’ve done a couple thousand deals and haven’t been burnt even once so “I’m confident in my process”.

How you could convince a seller the money was in “limbo” is beyond me.

Thank you Twisted Canuck, I wasn't aware of this. Thought EMT was locked down tight.

It gives you a warning as you don't need to create a question and an answer.

Gun post, town post, firearms Canada, Craigslist and many more sites are all well known to be hives of scammers. I only deal on proven sites such as here and CGN and I'm only buying from people with positive feedback.

I've not dealt with GunPost, and barely ever even been on it, but one thing I noticed cruising it today is that you can use the filters to look for ads local to you, this would mean you could just search for ones that you could deal with face to face. That seems like a plus.
