Default Does Bass Pro have a deal with Leupold?

Shopping for a Leupold scope, and the one I want is going for:
$669 shipped from Wholesale
$682 Shipped from Cabelas
$640 from a shop in Grande Prairie. Pick up only.
and $530 Shipped from Bass Pro.

Bass Pro just get a good deal with Leupold?

Bass Pro does not source their scopes through Korth, so they eliminate the middle man.

Bass pro might not have the Korth group mark up. They may import themselves.

Just be sure that you aren't shopping at the US Bass Pro site, their Canadian prices are higher than the US prices.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard that Korth won't do warranty work on a Leupold bought from Bass Pro?

They won't but bass pro will deal with it. Same as prophet river, both cut out the middleman.... Canada needs more of these guys in my opinion.

Korth is the only authorized importer of Leupold scopes in Canada. Korth is also who handles warranty claims.

Scopes in Canada which were not imported through Korth do not get a warranty. It will be refused by Korth.

Bass Pro shops imports them on their own. If a scope breaks which was bought at BPS, good luck!

I think the BassPro number will be closer once you pay your shipping, duty, GST, exchange rate etc. But I guess they do have free shipping for Canadian customers over $75 on right now. Maybe be able to score a sweet deal.

I tried ordering a scope from the bass peo website but they said they couldn't ship it to me cause their website was American not canadian. All the prices on the site are in US dollars too.

False. Korth is the Canadian repair center yes, but bass pro does not use them - they deal directly with leupold USA. They still have leupolds warranty, korth just won't honour it. I have jumped thru the hoops and imported leupolds from the USA in the past aswell. It's actually quite easy and there are considerable savings to be had when you cut out the middleman.

My thought exactly. Bass Pro doesn't have a Canadian priced catalogue or website. So unless you phoned them and got that price at the Calgary store, you aren't getting it for that.

Obviously I meant a warranty through Korth as anyone who reads English could plainly tell by the next six words after the words you quoted.

You do it on the regular site, add it to cart, go to check out, and select Canada. It gives you shipping and applicable taxes.

Actually bud, you said "korth is also who handles warranty claims". As if a guy is screwed if you didnt buy thru korth. All I said is you arent. But since you can read English I thought you could plainly tell that. Also if you actually read the post right above your first post it was mentioned bass pro looks after the leupold warranty on scopes they sell.

IIRC this very subject was one that caused a great deal of commotion a while back resulting in one member leaving and another suspended for a time.
Doublegun is right, it's not rocket science, if you bought the scope from other than a dealer who uses Korth , you can get permits to send it back for warranty or the dealer you bought it from can.
If you bought it from someone who deals with Korth,m Korth will fix it.

Korth is to Leupold, what Trev Deeley is to Harley Davidson, middle men.

So if you buy a Luepy from Bass Pro, where do they send it for warranty work? The US? Get it back in 4 months like Bushnell? Half the reason I buy Leupold is that I can get it fixed 10 blocks from my house and get it back in a couple days (did that once). I might pay a bit extra to get a Korth-sourced one. Not $100 more, but a bit more.

I hope you live close to bass pro to make it worth while driving down there to save $100. Factor in fuel, coffee, food and time. Plus the other $300 you will spend while you are there and Mr.BassPro while be laughing to the bank.

how often "should" you need warranty work?..now there is the million dollar question.is it worth an extra 100.00 to you IF you need warranty?if the warranty is still there is it worth 100.00 to wait a couple of months IF you actually needed it?

I never buy extended warranties for anything, and so far it has saved me a lot of money. I would save the $100, and no worry about the warranty.

Only thing I have bought extended warranty on that paid off was a car I bought to use for business.... Was glad I did it paid for itself and then some....but in general I agree, they are a money grab.

Leupy warranty service through Korth is exceptional, you'll most likely encounter a problem during or just before hunting season Quick turn around can save the season for you.

1) If I actually expect a scope to require warranty, I won't buy that scope.

2) My hunting trips are generally a week long, and at least several hours from home, so even a week turnaround time won't save a hunt for me. For that reason, I always have two rifles with me on a hunt.

They do need warranty. The good news is that Korth offers exceptional service and turnaround time when it is needed. Good people.

Default Mossleigh mob

A few of us were out for dinner in the thiriving community of Mossleigh last Friday and this very topic came up since Lee had just had them voluntarily do some work for him on one of his target scopes for the exceptional price of "free".

We both agreed for the turnaround time and the level of service the extra money was worth it (some of us have nothing but Leupold scopes)

X 2 .......For the difference it is a no brainer in my opinion.
Ask yourself when you are standing there with your rifle and no scope waiting and unsure when it will be returned to you should you have to send it away.....Oh yea this is long after you were bragging to your buddies about the great deal you got when you bought it.

Korth is less that a week in turn around and IMO that is worth any savings you may have.

Good luck with it......
