Default 7mm stw?

Was looking around on the major brand sites and didn't find much info. Are any of them still chambering the stw in a factory offering? Thanks in advance.

I suspect that you can still get it from the Remington Custom shop if you want a 700, maybe Winchester Custom shop for a Model 70, 7mags can be rechambered for it, Cooper obviously builds it. It may be that others will custom build one, and I am sure you can likely find a good used one somewhere, or one to rebarrel.
Pretty recent article by Layne Simpson from 2011 with some relevance to loading it;

You have to have it custom built these days, its worth while tho, very nice round especially if you handload, I have a Ruger #1 that was built before you could buy a 7stw over the counter, still my fav shooter.

I think Coopers making them, but it's pretty much gonna be like a custom build bill to buy one.

Cooper is building them, but you are likely going to have to place an order to get one, as they are usually sold when the dealer gets them. Another option, is to purchase a 7mmremmag, and have it rechambered to 7mmstw.

I bought a 1895 low wall 7mm 17 years ago and had it rechamber to an STW. My favourite gun, very accurate with handloads and with the factory winchester silvertips.

Better yet leave it in 7 rem mag.

If you don't have a use for a 7mmstw, or you can't handle one, then yes the 7mmremmag might be a better option.

Definitely a better choice than an oddball like a 7mmMashburn.

Please enlighten me... what "use" does the stw offer over the RM?

You could if it had a magnum bolt face. Being that it's a.270 it won't work for an STW. Buying a 7 rem mag and rechambering will work but your gunsmith will likely have to set the barrel back a half inch depending what the factory chamber is like. There is 2 stw NIB for sale on this very forum. Here is the link

I like the more readily available brass for the Mashburn.

I'm also convinced that the Mashburn is where case capacity and the 7's should stop. It's more like the Rem Mag than the STW. I like that.

The XHR is that abortion thing with a triangle shaped barrel....yuck! I'm sure you could find and STW or a RUM in a prettier configuration.

And so few people agree with you, that nobody considered it worthwhile to commercialize the Mashburn.

The Mashburn spawned the 7mm Remington Magnum. THE most prolific magnum in history.

Yet Remington designed a new cartridge, and designated it the 7mmRemington magnum rather than release the Mashburn in it's existing form.

And whether you like it or not, the 7mmstw was released commercially, just like the 7mmremmag, yet nobody bothered to release the Mashburn.

And Savage sold 650,000 rifles last year. Proof positive that the general buying public are relatively stupid.

To answer your question, no the over the counter makers dont offer this beautiful round anymore. I love the round, it is flatter than the 7mm rem but equal to the Rem ultra mag, from what i read as i dont have the RUM. It has been said why get the extra velocity, but in that case the 7-08 is a great round too. Or compare the 3006 to the 300 win.Why have a flatter shooting gun? The STW is flatter due to increased velocity. for me the kick is less than my 300 win. You can buy new remington brass from rain or shine, sellers of gun stuff out of saskabush. I had a sako in this round made many years ago, 1993 or 94, need a new barrell now. I have a winchester off the shelve and both have shot great.

Default Keep your 7mm Rem. Mag

You might consider a custom built 7mm STW, and keep it as a show-piece, I have a .270 Huskvarna which I bought as a teen-ager using papar-route money, and later bought a 7mm Rem. Mag (Ruger m77). In the field, for most big game, these are very similar. I custom built a 7mm STW on a P14 action just to see how it would turn out. Seems like a lot of effort to cover the 7mm range of rifles. Guess what, the .270 is still my favorite!
