Default 45-70 leverton bullet problems

I noticed my 45-70 Honady leverton bullets are sinking in to the casing just by putting down my tub magazine on my marlin 1895 I am not sure to use the rounds ?

In adequate crimp!
I'm not sure where you should go with this, I can use my kinetic puller to get them back out.
Re crimping I could if I had dies.
Try asking around to borrow someone's equipment, perhaps.

Yip as Dick says it's in the crimp. Also brass for leverevolution bullets needs to be trimmed shorter than standard bullets for the 45/70. Hornady has the trim specs on their site.

Are you using the shorter Hornady brass?

You have to use the shorter Hornady brass (approx. 0.200") shorter than standard. And, you have to crimp. I've run into the same issue loading .444 Marlin Leverevolution. If you have the Lee factory crimp die, the brass will be too short to reach the crimping portion of the mandrel. Simply fix, flip your seated bullet upside down and insert it into the top of the die, bring the ram up to the bottom of the mandrel and crimp. Just try to insert each loaded round the same amount to get consistent crimped lengths.

I'm trying to visualize. Do you mean to insert the cartridge by hand into the top of the die, then raise the mandrel to get the crimp? Seems like that would work, albeit a little inconsistent. I have heaps of short brass that I have yet to reload due to not being able to crimp.

Pretty sure Hornady makes a set of dies for short 45/70 brass...
