Default California Whitefront Limit 10/day!

The way I understand it most of our birds go through here to end up there. They have way more hunters so how are we only allowed 5 and they can hammer 10 a day? I believe specks are almost double the target population #s in the pacific flyway but the #s are holding steady. In 10 years I have seen the speck #s that come through here increase a lot to the point where that’s about all we hunt for geese. It’s not uncommon to see a full /4 full of specks. Are the specks going to be the next snow geese and spiral out of control?
Could Alberta hunters not at least shoot 8/day? Interested to know what you guys are seeing in your area and your thoughts on an increase in the specklebelly limit.

Default Eight a day on specs.

Yes Your right that speck populations are way up and thier flyway has expanded wider.
We shoot a lot of specs now in places we used to only see Canada’s. There is a lot more snows in these areas too that we never used to see.
I don’t think it would hurt the population at all to have the limit of five brought up to eight so you could shoot eight dark geese no matter what species.

Default

Was just reading this yesterday, May be that the specks will have the same issue as the snows in their breeding ground areas down the road. I find the numbers strike me as a bit low from what I've seen though.
