Anybody into the hobby currently??

Wondering about the newer ones for some basic aerial shots - mostly landscaping shots (pictures and some simple short video clips, for website, Facebook, etc).

Used to have a phantom 3 pro (crashed).

Thought it took good photos and videos.

Any experience with DJI mavic?? Or Chinese knockoffs??

Thanks.

I have a couple inspires, couple phantom 4's, a mavic, sold a bunch more.

The knockoff's aren't worth buying.

The mavic is actually a great UAV, just remember it is fragile. It is quick and will fly for a long time, it has true 4k video and zoom. Pictures are great. I do prefer the Inspire Pro Black, but to go goof around the mavic is fine. I just used it a couple days ago to inspect the shingles on the roofs.

Ken,

Do the mavics have the "follow me" features ??

Are the remotes as big and cumbersome as the phantom series ??

they have follow me and active track, and the remote is about 1/4 the size of the Phantom series.

I have a Mavic - it is amazing. Tilt parameters are hacked allowing it to hit 90 kmh on a good run.

If you decide on a Mavic and want a nice hardcase, I 3d print them. The case is so good, I throw it in the boat for 10 days bashing around on the ocean, and nothing moves in it. Maybe the best part about the Mavic is the size and portability.

Wow no kidding.... I seem to recall the phantom 3 I had only doing 35 to 40km/h?? Could be wrong. But didn't think it was that fast.

I do remember it was quite stable, even in windier conditions.

Dog hated it.

I have had my Inspire pro black to 110kph, the phantom 4 to 105 and the Mavic to 90. I got the biggest kick going from Phantom 3 pro to Phantom 4, sport mode made it just howl!

They really cruise along with a bit of a tailwind

I have a Mavic. amazing little product. However all the restrictions on drones is a pretty big drag. I guess you cant expect everyone to use them responsibly
