100 G ??? & A HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL
Unless you, yourself , have talked to this individual who has this line for sale, only then will YOU know if there is truth to it. I've heard these exorbitant stories before and as you can gather, I don't care for them. Makes it look like all trappers are sitting on a gold mine. As for mine, I need that kind of capital just to keep it operating. So if you're really interested, give me a call ..lol

Curious as to why you are "still looking" spyder.
Is it because you have not found any info on traplines for sale in your area, or not one in your price range ? Likely why they are fetching the $100 k asking price is because of supply & demand.

There has been none in my area. Also I am not spending 100k on land I do not own and only have trapping rights to. Perhaps you feel diffirent about the situation but as F&W is getting close to doing a Alberta wide audit the prices should come down quite drastically or even takin away from those not actually trapping and given away to those who do want to.

Unfortunately, you hit the nail on the head. A lot of RFMA's are used for other purposes than trapping and gives the rest of us a bad name. Sure makes it difficult for new trappers to get started.
Good luck.

There are some 70+ traplines that are not being used or occupied but this is a SECRET. In most cases, those making the most noise are those wanting to trap in their backyard and not wanting the expense in travelling to those available lines that are "in the bush"..

I'm very new to trapping but arent you allowed to trap on crown land? Again i'm new and i am still doing a ton of research to make sense of how it all works. ANY and ALL information would be greatly appreciated.

My knowledge is that you can trap on Crown Land as long as it doesn't fall within a registered trapline. Having said that, permission is also required by Fish and Wildlife. Now, I may be wrong here but I know that at one time not that long ago this is how it was explained to me by a F&W officer.
Now, you should also be aware that in Alberta the vast majority of Crown Land is on somebodies registered trapline. There is very little land, and it will be just the odd pocket here and there, that is available and only with F&W permission, which is probably difficult to obtain.
Can anybody correct me or add to this?

Hi Rob, I believe you are correct, however I would hazard a guess to say that 99.999% of all crown land would be covered by registered lines. Some of the crown lease land East of the Forestry Boundaries may prove to hold enough area but you would have to get lease-holder and F&W approval
and then get a Resident Licence. Best if you put an ad in the ATA magazine to sign on as a Junior Partner and hope for the best. The ad for members I believe is free. This is to the best of my knowledge.
