Default Battle River personal best and worst

Managed to hook into a new personal best walleye from the Battle River. I did not get measurements but my best educated guess is 28-29" and 8-9lbs. He was definitely a tank. Also hooked the smallest walleye I've ever caught in the river a few casts later.

Nice catch. My most memorable fish this year were tiny because of the circumstances.

Always nice to see the little gaffers. The battle always was good on a high water year I think they come all the way from the north sask. Would even get goldeye up as far as forestburg. Too bad it's not really fishable on years like that till the month before they close it on Nov. 1st. Even some big thick pike in the holes once in awhile on a year like this. Good job.👍

Love the little guy. Picture perfect. The big'n is a beast for sure. Good job you. I have crossed over the Battle River in many a spot driving and always wondered how the fishing was and never had any of my gear with me. Seems like I still got a little time left to maybe try it. Got a week of holidays coming next week. One last kick at the catch.

Yeah the river is still higher than normal for this time of year but the holes are filling up nicely. I only live 8 miles from this section of the river and have fished the Wainwright area of the battle most of my life....I could not believe the goldeye this year. A month ago I could go down and catch 30+ in a few hours and most were decent size. I've been finding the average size of the walleye are a bit bigger this year....instead of 25 16" walleye for every 1 over 20" it's been about 10-1 and no shortage of keeper size walleye. Even
some bigger pike too....when I say bigger I'm talking 24-30" as opposed to the 18-24" that are common.
It's a great fishery especially this time of year....if anyone is in the Wainwright area and needs a few hours to kill let me know and I can send you in the right direction.
