Default Still big trout at phyllis

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. Anyways.... There has been a lot of talk on whether this lake is still worth fishing for big rainbows since the illegally stocked perch moved in. Well I can answer that question with a "Hell Yes!" I was about 30 meters from the shoreline fishin about 7 feet of water when i spotted the monster lurking down below... Was easily 30 inches in length and really thick, a solid 8-10 pounder (could of been a record had I caught it). Unfortunately he only sniffed my maggots, took a nibble, and gracefully swam away

I hear rumors that they may kill the lake to get rid of the perch.why not throw in sum brooder brookies they eat perch.or browns for that matter browns eat any thing that swims

check out obed...the perch are taking over there too and it has trophy browns.
besides the majority of the perch stick on the one side of the lake so i dont mind them there.
brooders are too picky to chase down food.

Cool

I think the brood fish eat them if they get the chance perch at phillis get a move on when a brooder shows up. but they cant keep up with perch reproduction.maybe triploid pike help take care of the perch.

you might get some flack from the fly fishers that like to trout fish only.
once they put in the pike they wont stock it with perch again. kinda like cow lake

Yeah it's pretty cool watching the big lurkers swim around in there? Biggest I have caught is 17lb 9 ounces - but they are so beat up. You gotta watch their fins cause they are worn to the bone and real sharp. My buddy almost had to get stitches from one of the ones he caught
