Default What's hot right now around Medicine Hat

Hey Guys,

I've been out way less than I'd like to this year (new baby, just turned 4 months old), I have a buddy that recently bought some gear and wants to go out for the first time. I've been out to Bullshead several times this year and have had great luck each time, I have also had my oldest two out to Reesor twice. I haven't managed to make it out to the River yet this year, how's the fishing on the SSR these days? Any intel would be greatly appreciated!

Also, I recently bought a Redington Fly Rod and Reel, never fly fished. Does anyone know anyone around Medicine Hat that gives lessons on casting?

Was at a bunch of the lakes in the area a week ago.

Bullshead had the craziest blue green algae I've seen.
Michelle wasn't much better. Some aggressive risers though.

Spruce coulée had a substantial brookie die off.

Elk water was better but with a few pike floaters.

Sask river in town produced a mixed bag including a sturgeon.

Reesor was the best of the bunch. Lots of people catching, no algae problems or fish kills. Nice place to spend the day on the water.

Some creek in cypress had trout taking hoppers very willingly.

I fished the SSR a few weeks ago and a buddy and I had 12 between us in the evening. 4 Walters, 7 Goldeye, and a nice Northern.
