Granted the Cons started this process, but, it doesn't appear JT and crew have any intention of fixing it at the moment, to the the detriment of their own policiy desires.

Yesterday's SECD meeting in the Senate, Gary Mauser, Caillin Langmann, Matt Hipwell, Heidi Rathjen. Natalie Provost and a few others.
Poly is asking for gun bans, mag restrictions, pinned mag bans, and central storage.

Well, I watched the whole session today, Dr. Langmann did one of the better testimonies I have seen all thru the HOC and Senate hearings, the folk from the CSAAA and the panel with the Silverdale people put on a pretty good argument as well. The pattern that is coming thru to me, is that there are a lot of factual pieces of info missing from the entire scenario, that there is no good info available on. There are a lot of expenses and personnel that are going to have to be hired to implement it, and a lot policy definitions that have to be made to operate these laws with. The fact that the RCMP do not have the people to do what they are being asked to do is one glaring example, that came thru loud and clear, I believe.
It would seem even that the anti gun lobby is begging for a lot more than firearms policy to be implemented. many of which actually have nothing to do with firearms, and a lot of them can't articulate what they really need to say in the time given. The Senators are probably gaining some insight as to how poor a piece of legislation C71 really is and what areas the gov't really needs to address, seems like they are learning a lot. Looks like there are more hearings to be scheduled yet.

Best be considering the possibility the Cons may not win in Oct, essentially, prepare for the worst.

Pratte is quite capable of shooting himself in the foot, he has done it a few other times and shown his willful ignorance and his intention to whip the party line.

Here are all the people who have appeared at the SECD so far, the link to the meeting is there on the right also. Does not link directly to their particular testimony, you have to search in the vid to find the individual.

Nothing on the SECD schedule at the moment , Methinks they have a few other issues on their mind at the moment, like damage control over Wilson-Raybould and Philpotts. Rumours that Blair will present to Caucus sooner than later and the Libs will try to use it as an election platform tool. Nothing too interesting lately.
There is however an interesting court decision on a man that was reported for a post on Facebook, and the OPP took it seriously and grabbed his guns, judge tossed the order for forfeiture req from the OPP and the Crown. Good read.

Tried downloading it and reposting as just the PDF, but there is some "security token' missing, won't let it upload. Same issue with my Canon camera on this site for uploading pics, my Fuji doesn't have that issue. That's the internet for you. I have no clue how to fix that.

A comment from an article by a representative of Doctors against Gun Violence, who are being thanked by Poly group for their support, paints the picture of why the CCFR and others are slamming them. They're working with Poly on the "tell a lie enough times ---it will become the truth" basis.

May as well show the article as well, from the CMA, who they say these are facts, but as you can see from the comment above, not necessarily properly presented as being wholly truthful in the way they are broken down. The Libs will use this to backup their reasoning for a handgun ban.

An opinion piece from the NRA, mostly about the last rounds in the SECD hearings, which are due to proceed again on Mar 18, this Monday.

By the way, they can't change C71 and add a handgun ban without scrapping it;

Once it gets into the latter part of Goodale's question period, it starts getting interesting. The last Panel with Ed Burlew and the CSSA and the Calibre mag owner, gets quite interesting. Ed Burlew mostly deals with the background checks, and essentially coins the term the "Indigenous Disarmament Act" in reference to the background checks. The Niagara Sportsmen's Club rep is also an ex-member of the CFAC and an ex(?) director of the CSSA, his statement was to the point.

This subject was constantly brought up by the anti firearms witnesses in the House and the Senate, this is one viewpoint on how it was done. McPhedran was really mercurial on her questions, one minute seeming reasonable, the next was off the wall. She is the one that was asking every pro-gun witness if they were sponsored or paid in any way by the NRA. Strangely enough, I don't believe anyone mentioned to her that foreign involvement it isn't allowed by the NRA, in their constitution, until the last panel, who I believe was the only panel that had Cdn members of the NRA on it, Burlew and Gamble, both stated it openly when asked.

Most likely the next phase of the Liberal blueprint after C71, they do have the power to do exactly the same thing;

The NZ government using gun owners to cover up for their incompetence does sound familiar.

An immigrant killed a whole bunch of immigrants, with what appeared to be illegally modified firearms, while posting his intentions repeatedly and the solution to that is to punish 250,000 Kiwi gun owners by restricting their freedoms and confiscating their property?

Yup thats the Liberal way

An interesting speech in NJ arguing against the mag restrictions they were debating. Even though they have rights and a constitution that we don't, the argument still holds, substitute handguns and autoloaders for magazines, it is still valid. And criminals will still get what they want from neighboring jurisdictions who do understand the principle.
