Default How Was Your Sturgeon Fishing This Year?

Last year I had a great year Sturgeon fishing, caught 28 sturgeon on the North Saskatchewan River including a 50" and a 54" fatty that was around 55 lbs.

This year I did not catch one due to low water levels, I believe. How did you do sturgeon fishing?

Default Bump

Very surprised there are no Sturgeon fishermen or fisherwomen here?

They are just so much fun to catch, and the biggest big-game freshwater fish in Alberta, real reel strippers!

The biggest one I saw caught last year was over 80"

Cheers

Spring early summer was really good....we caught lots with several over 40" one over 50". Didn't fish the river much after mid July but the few times we did the sturgeon were few and far between and small. Lots of walleye and suckers though. Shore fishing only.

I only started fishing in late July this year, I fish from shore also. Suckers are all I caught the water was so low and warm. The water was so high in Edmonton last year the fishing was excellent all summer. I guess the guys with jetboats that could find the deep pools did great.

Those 50+ inchers are a blast to catch hey? As soon as they see the shore they take off and the fun is on, they remind me of Tarpon. Cheers and happy fishing mlee.

I didn't get a chance to fish during the spring and summer but we did well in September/October fishing from a jet boat on the South Sask. No super large fish but lots in the low to mid 40 inches. Girlfriend got 9 over 3 trips and I landed 5 myself.
