Default What are you and your 22lr capable of?

So this year one of my shooting goals is to improve my off hand and iron sight skills.

Tonight I shot this ten shot group at 100yds off hand with my marlin with lyman 66 receiver sight. The front sight is a partridge blade from skinner filed down so i could zero at 25 yds yet still make 500yd with the tang sight at highest elevation.
Note the skeeter on the steel to give a reference on group size. I did use the sling as a shooting aid but was otherwise completely unsupported

One thing I will say is next time I will put on some bug dope lol...those buggers sure make it hard to concentrate.

What are you and your favorite 22 capable of?

Well....seems like my stinking phone will not upload the pics...guess you'll have to take my word unless someone is willing to post the pics for me...its a ten shot group right at around 2" off hand @ 100yds with peep sights....

My .22 match rifles are capable of shooting X's all day long at 100 meters with sling 'n' irons- with the right guy behind the rifle ! LOL
Me, I have good and not so good days, but any day I can still sling up and get prone without too much discomfort is a win in my books!

That group is on a 12" steel. I dialed for 120yds and help my front post on the very bottom of the plate which gives me a very decisive aim point on such a large white plate. The impacts are a few inches higher than point of aim and land on the plate that way.

These are ten round groups from a few years back, with a Walther UIT standard class match rifle and a Strela/Vostock free rifle class match rifle.
Both were shot with sling and irons at 25 yards.
Ammo for the Walther was Eley Tennex, the Strela was shot with C.I.L. Match
The 10 ring is 10mm, and the X ring is 5mm

That's solid shooting gentlemen.

I am capable of making a mess with irons ..... that's about it

I need to shoot with a scope to get any sort of accuracy beyond 25 yards. Only really shot irons until I saved up enough to buy a scope then never looked back which was about 16-17 years old ....

I'm just humbled.

I can do that with my .17 hmr, a bench and 3-9x Bausch and Lomb... does that count?

I'll try and get some pics of my rifles tomorrow in action with some 50 and 100 yard groups with the sling and irons .

With SK Rifle Match at 25 yards it will “one”hole if I do my part, when it misses I know that I’m to blame!

Anything less would be sub standard with a scoped Anschutz!

What barrel, chassis and optics did you go with on the V-22?

18" steel barrel, stock used on factory Sinister rifle, Triggertech Diamond trigger, and Zeiss HD5 5-25 scope.

Insite Arms had barreled actions, stocks and triggers on hand. You choose your components, and they put the rifle together.

Tikka T1X
5 x 5 shot groups at 100 m overlaid. Largest 1.214" Average .983"

10 shot group at 205 yds

This is what the rifle will shoot on a regular basis with decent (not my best) ammo.

Some decent 100y groups posted. Best I've done with the Wildcat is a 3.5" group at 100y, outdoors with some wind. Excuses, excuses...

50y I've done 5/8" with that same rifle so with the right conditions I could probably muster a better 100y group.

Took a few minutes to sit down and shoot a 25yd 10shot group. 10x is 1" shooting peep sights, sitting with rifle on cross sticks.

Then went prone on Harris w rear bag at the 50 yard line with my savage mkll. This is a 4 5r mag group so 20 shot group @50 yds was a bit disappointed the 2nd last shot is the one that landed low and left of the main group, and my last shot landed low right almost outside the group as well.

This rifle typically strings horizontally just a bit. Pretty certain its shooter error but I have never been able to correct it. It typically shoots .75 moa but always horizontal.

Great shooting obsessed 1. I also have a 39a that i like to shoot offhand although it only has open sights. My photo uploads failed i think there is something wrong with the site today. Anyway i folded a sheet of paper to 6x11inches to aproximate a 100 metre ram and scattered 9 out of 10 shots across it. I have never used a sling or seen anyone use one i am curious how much more accurate they can make a person from a standing position
