Default Kids first Sturgeon

It’s not much, but it’s his first! We picked up our first jet boat on Wednesday, went for a trial cruise through Edmonton Wednesday evening and decided to try hitting some holes tonight to get the kid his first sturgeon (for whatever reason he’s been hell bent on getting one and we’ve been trying a lot from shore for a couple years). As luck would have it, no longer than 10 min after his first cast from the new boat, and he had his first sturgeon which is also the first fish over the rail on the boat.......pretty cool evening, and I have been told that I should have the boat hooked up when I pick him up from school tomorrow for another evening on the water......looks like hunting might take a backseat to this for a while!

What an experience for you and your boy. Congrats! Good way to break in the jet boat.

Congrats! That's a great first sturgeon. Now the addiction has begun.

My first sturgeon was 12" long. Didn't know he was hooked until we reeled in to check baits.

Thanks guys! And ak47, it’s nothing crazy, an explorer 162 with the 65 Yamaha on it. I’m planning to run some small skinny water to save my legs and get me
into my elk and moose areas, and want to try a different area for bear baiting this spring that I couldn’t access without an Argo. This seemed like a good step into the jet boat world that didn’t break the bank and would work well in the skinnier water lol.
