Default Can i discharge a restricted firearm on private land?

I live in lower AB, own 3 sections of land, would be in abidence of all of the non-restricted regulations and I am wondering if the same applies for restricted firearms or do i need to have a private range otherized?

Default NO

Restricted weapons may only be discharged at ranges approved by the Provincial Attorney General.

Generally, if you have a restricted outside your place of residence, you will be under the conditions of an ATT; if you do not have an ATT, oh-oh. Your place of residence is taken to meaning your dwelling (house, apartment, etc), not property that you happen to own.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody else is there to hear it, does it matter?

I work with a fellow who used to be the range inspector for western Canada. I was talking to him about this topic and he said "Just apply to have your place deamed a range". He explained the process to me and it does not sound hard, it is just paper work a few phone calls and possibly moving a little dirt! Contact the CFC and ask for Mike massom, I think he is the dude that handles this now!
