Default unusual rifle seized

You don't see an AUG Steyr often I remembered them being banned in Canada and the US many years ago how this scumbag got ahold one is puzzling? With all the previous convictions and outstanding charges Canada really needs a 3 strike rule no way this skid should be breathing free air.

Onion Lake RCMP: charges laid after firearm found by event security
On July 17, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Onion Lake RCMP received a report that a firearm was found at a security checkpoint at an event on Onion Lake Cree Nation.
Security personnel, in the course of their checkpoint duties, located a bag with a semi-automatic firearm and ammunition in it. The security personnel called RCMP to report the firearm.
Investigation determined the bag belonged to a male who was then located and arrested at a residence on Onion Lake Cree Nation. The male was on multiple outstanding arrest warrants from Alberta and was prohibited from possessing a firearm. He is also a court-designated dangerous offender.
As a result, Robin Wuttunee (DOB: 1977-09-22) of North Battleford, SK is charged with:
- 3 counts, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code
- 1 count, carry concealed weapon, Section 90(2), Criminal Code
- 2 counts, possession of a firearm/ammunition in a motor vehicle, Section 94(2), Criminal Code
- 1 count, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code
- 1 count, unauthorized possession of a restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition, Section 95(2), Criminal Code
- 1 count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 92(1), Criminal Code
- 1 count, authorized possession of a prohibited device, Section 92(2), Criminal Code
- 5 counts, possession firearm contrary to prohibition order
Wuttunee is scheduled to appear in court on July 19, 2021.

Who would ever have thought that convicted criminals would thumb their noses at Canada's already strict gun laws lol?

I find it interesting that the RCMP didn’t/couldn’t find him for all his warrants but as soon as a firearm is tied to him he is tracked down in short order?
I wonder how many more crimes are committed in Alberta each year by people the RCMP know have warrants and have a good idea where they’re at but choose not to pursue them due to political reasons??
With his resume he shouldn’t even be out in public to reoffend IMO.
I’m sure he would have turned the gun in for the Turd…lol

The criminal most likely stole the weapon from some oldtimers house. And the oldtimer that was robbed was one of the guys that hid his guns and said "They'll never get my guns!" when registrations came to be. Where else would it come from?

My long dead father used to have a live 50 caliber Lee Enfield machine gun on a tripod. And a strip of live shells too. He bought it off some oldtimer back in the day before gun registrations came about. Dad had the gun disarmed by the RCMP and later sold it to a collector. This was 40+ years ago. So I would think that some prohibited arms still are in hidden collections that someone's grandpa had.

He will be out in short order, adding to his criminal record, and endangering the public again.

Actually it doesn’t surprise me at all. The RCMP suck harder than the Oilers at playoff time.

It is maybe because most of the time, warrants are "Province wide" only. In other words, a skid with warrants in Alberta cannot be arrested in Sask, or BC.

Good on the RCMP for actually releasing this shytrat's name.

Agreed but hopefully most of the charges stick and he gets a lengthy sentence. I know if I was caught with a weapon like that they’d throw the book at me for sure….

Yup he appeared in court and was immediately released just like the last 8 times ( i'm guessing ) the name Wattunee is a very common name in the courts and on arrest warrants, he comes from a family with a long line of criminal activity, if you recall a female with that last name was also along with the group on the Gerald Stanley farm the day Colten Boushe was shot.

A North Battleford man facing weapons-related charges wasn’t granted bail today in Lloydminster Provincial Court.

Robin Wuttunee, 43, was remanded after his court appearance July 19.
The Onion Lake RCMP arrested Wuttunee. He was also wanted at the time on multiple outstanding arrest warrants out of Alberta. He was prohibited from owning a firearm.

Wuttunee is now scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court Aug. 4 for a show cause hearing.

If your grandfathered for OIC 12.5 class of firearms the AUG can still be legally owned and bought/sold amongst 12.5 license holders…Used to be able to shoot these at approved ranges , right up until the mayerthorpe rcmp murders…

the firearm may have been stolen from a collection, but it may also have been smuggled in from the USA. due to firearms legislation the criminal element has a thriving business trafficking guns. the Mohawk nation in Quebec are well known for doing business on the shady side.

Anyone that thinks that he won't reoffend, and won't ever possess firearms again, is pretty naive. The only sure way to stop him from reoffending yet again , would be to put him behind bars permanently. But that won't happen, he will almost certainly continue to be a part of our catch and release legal system, just like the other career criminals.

The only thing that will stop him will be when someone fatally shoots him. And we know it is less likely to be an RCMP officer than a criminal.

I propose this, we take every violent criminal who used a firearm and lock them in some bunker somewhere with a cache of firearms and ammo. We let them sort it out "Hunger Games" style. This would prevent, re-offending, prison over crowding and save the tax payers millions.

A notable Calgary armored car robbery at a bank decades ago featured the use of a Steyr Aug. Nobody was shot, though shots were fired. It happened at North Hill Mall back when the CIBC was still in it rather than across the street. In that instance the offender was caught, served his time and is now a productive member of society. I even wound up crossing paths with the fellow at work. It was the late 80’s or very early ‘90’s.

I remember an Aussie soldier I met in Kuwait was carrying one. First time I’d seen the rifle. Very interesting for sure. Have seen semi auto variants for sale in cabelas but it’s been a few years now.

And the ejection port can be changed to left or right hand.Another one I liked was the 5.56 FNC carbine folder.

Yeah the guy told me the stocks were made by Tupperware and they cleaned them in the shower with them. Not sure how accurate that was. It did have Have a smart trigger of sorts. Pull part way back for semi auto and all the way back for full auto.

It was actually an AK variant for both guys that did the robbery at North Hill. It was in 1998 and the fellow that did the shooting was an ex-airborne fella. He did serve his time and come out to normalize. For a bit.

No Aug at that one.

I always think that the right solution would be to make these guys go to the range with a proper instructor every day for six months.
Solution:
1. No more accidental shooting children at birthday parties
2. Given their proclivity for shooting each other, a reduction in medical expenses for which we all share payment, and
3. a distinct reduction in general recidivism - Darwinism would suggest that it would make hanging out with the criminal element a particularly unsuccessful breeding strategy
