Default Chain Lakes Southern Alberta

I am planning to take a buddy of mine to chain lakes to catch his first fish in a couple years. How's the fishing and whats working?

Pickeral rig + small hooks(sz6/8/10) is the easiest. You can also use a slip bobbler rig but your line will drag to other fishermen around you.

Bait: Sweet Corn, worm, powerbait.

Bring plenty of sinkers in all size...yes even the bigger 1/2-2oz sinkers..because it can get windy out there. Construct your own rig with heavier line +15lb, snaps, and swivels so you wont have issues with snag issues. The pickeral rigs will do fine if you swap out the swivels and snaps for heavy duty one.

Prepare to catch alot of sucker fish.

Just wondering if anyone’s been recently. Thinking of taking the little ones out to fish from shore.

I was there last week fishing from my Cumberland float tube. Not a bite in 3 hours! 6-8 people fishing with bobbers from shore & nothing! A big lake so you never know where they are hiding . . .

From shore you can use the pickerel rig or a bobber with a hook 6 ft under. Use small pieces of worms cause from shore the suckers will keep you entertained all day long. From the camp ground area walk down and find a bit of a cliff area.
