Good on you guys, but what about the thousands of other rescue groups out there ? You're promoting one, over a myriad of others. It's a life and death decision. A first world problem. I know a lady who's idea of charity is bringing as many unwanted puppies, from abandoned or abused dogs, into the world, as possible. She thinks she's doing Good, doesn't even realize she's part of the problem. I won't name the group.

I think you are missing the point of this exercise....HCW was nominated to compete. The only Canadian charity and the only animal rescue. While I am sure some other Albertan/Canadian rescues were nominated, Pella must have liked what they saw in HCW, and selected them. These votes cost the voters nothing, unless they wish to also donate. And nothing is preventing anyone from donating to any of the countless animal rescues out there. As for this lady you mention, she is obviously not involved in rescuing existing dogs but it sounds like she is a dreadful person who actually should be mentioned, IMO, so others know what she is doing.
