Default European Mounts

Hi

I finished boiling my elk European mount and it turned out pretty good. I'm not sure how to mount it to a plaque to put on the wall. Would someone be able to share some ideas/pictures of how you mount?

I mounted my European on diamond willow that I ripped with my table saw. If you drill a hole thru the thick bone at the base of the skull and use one of those butterfly anchors it’ll hold.

There are two little holes on each side of the skull that I just ran a piece of lockwire through to make a loop. I didn't mount on a plaque but just on the wall as is. Would work on a plaque as well. Just hang like a picture on the wall using the wire loop to hang from a nail or screw.

PASC43 looks like he has a pretty good way of doing it. I go to home depot and in their hardware isle you can find all sorts of hooks. I buy a hook that is a d ring with a a piece of metal attached to it that has two holes for screws. Then i drill 2 small holes in the back part of the skull right where the wire on pasc43 is twisted then i screw the hook on. You can see it and the hooks hold really well i have a decent elk skull hung up and my brother in law has a nice sized moose.

I used a skull hooker on my Elk this year. Immediately broke when the weight of the mount was on it. Pretty cheap. Lucky I caught my mount. I did my own with wire after that.

I have seen an elk skull and a moose skull suspended from a strong single wire hung from the ceiling. In the corners of a room with a 12 foot ceiling. They would turn if there was air current. The wire was connected by way of a hole drilled at the balance point of the skull. Showed them off in a real 3D way.
