Default If you couldn't hunt, then ???

"Imagine" type exercise here: if hunting with guns somehow got banned, what might you do (other than explode in anger, etc.)?

This could be possible - not likely, but there's a slim chance it could happen. Don't know reason why, could be wildlife conservation, could be view on guns, could even be that smoke from smokeless powder has bad effects on the air we and our children and parents breathe, whatever.

I'm not asking WHY it happens, only WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF it happens. Bow hunt? Spear hunt LOL? Discuss.

I fully expect I'll get trolled and bitched at and whatnot for asking, but if that's what floats your boat, then let 'er rip. And I KNOW that no matter what the law, there will be nimrods who love to go out in the country, bang off big guns, throw beer cans around, whatever. No getting away from that, but I'm confident they are a minority anyway.

Me personally, I'll fight like everything for gun ranges (I like them) and private hunting estates (wouldn't use them, but I could see where some people would). But hunting on Crown land and private land - hmmm, there could be some changes coming. Maybe.

So, what's your opinion?

Snaring is a traditional method of the disarmed poacher elsewhere in the world.

I would continue to hunt, whether it's by bow, or other means, or relocate to somewhere that hunting is still legal.

Second, for break out the long bow. I spend at least 50% of my hunting time with the long bow.

I would be more serious about shed hunting, more camping and hiking trips I suppose. Continue to shoot recurve and maybe trap more seriously instead of for the odd farmer.

Already bow hunt 90% of the season so wouldn't hurt my feelings. Be way less road warriors out though and game would thrive lol

Swap the guns for cameras. 'Hunt' for the perfect shot.

I've never not hunted.

Sometimes it's wild animals. (Powder burner, air driven, archery, and i'm sure there's other ways mentioned.)

Sometimes it's primarily two pointers and the wild animals get a break for awhile.

Sometimes it's thrills. (Adrenaline producers like motorcycles, or adventures of other kinds.)

Alot of the time i hunt endorphine releases (gym and or other exercise, hike, bike, paddle etc.)

Could be goals i'm hunting, career or otherwise.

And a lot of the time it's a great combo of many or all of the above things.

Hunting is life, life is hunting, it's not always just wild animals, attack the day.

Would be sad to not be able to hunt with powder burners though!

When the kings start telling me to stop killing deer, I’ll stop killing deer till I’m done killing kings.

In between causing anarchy and insurrection, guess id still bowhunt

I don't know how to stop.

Wouldn't happen, really don't matter how I do it, but sure as the sun rises and sets, I will hunt until I draw my last breath.

Haven't bow hunted for prolly 4-5 years, so that's still an option. So is rifle.

Hunting crown land vs private. If there was a move afoot, I think they'd start with public first, see if they won the inevitable SCC challenge.

I think I always hunt, notice game movements, patterns, lifecycles, etc. For instance might be a big year in the gopher cycle, many, many on top of the snow.

See a lot of game through the lens of open sights, open bead, or duplex crosshairs.

I hope we never have to decide how to replace it, think it would make me a poacher.

Default Hunting with guns banned

Thats an easy one-- Bow hunting--For sure easy then, to get permission to hunt all those deer infested farms. Moose, deer, elk, pop would explode, as the beer gut window, road shooters would become a thing of the past---

A good scoped cross bow, an easy transition for gun hunters-----
