I can remember paying $1.56 for diesel in 2007 in BC.
Up and down the greed rollercoaster goes.

What's that have to do with last week's 20cent jump in gas prices?

Lots of taxes
$0.10 liter federal excise tax
5% GST
$0.045 liter carbon tax Alberta and $0.067 BC
$0.13 liter Alberta Fuel tax and $0.145 liter BC
Vancouver also has a $0.17 liter transit tax
Before GST Vancouver is paying about $0.42 in tax

Are you saying these are new taxes that came into effect last week, causing a 20cent price jump?

And while we are at it lets actually make the BC plates pay to come into the National parks from the West. $750 per head seems fair

You want to know why he was waiting for the next election review the post.
You want to know how free market commodity pricing happens for gasoline look to the central pricing hub in Chicago.
When it goes up or down their our price changes 24 hours later.

Only applies to gas price increases because once they start going down it takes a week to drop and once it hits the base price it will sit there for an hour and a half before it jumps another 20cents two hours later.

That makes little sense in context of what you said before:
"Lots of taxes
$0.10 liter federal excise tax
5% GST
$0.045 liter carbon tax Alberta and $0.067 BC
$0.13 liter Alberta Fuel tax and $0.145 liter BC
Vancouver also has a $0.17 liter transit tax
Before GST Vancouver is paying about $0.42 in tax"
While both of what you say are factors in the price of gas, they don't logically follow the train of questions.
Oh, well.

I think you gotta get the price up a bit to ease people into the supply price during the maintenance. These refiners still have to supply fuel to their customers just have to secure it from further away so there probably is a natural 10 cent or something bump just to pay for shipping and mucking around with some one elses fuel vs just bucking it out the tankfarm into rail cars or trucks.
I think if some one doesnt make it back online on schedule gas will probably be pretty expensive haha. I know i ll be keeping my cube full
