Ok read the link shook my head, and thought, ok he is talking about assault weapons used as sniper rifles? rem 700 or USMC M40 hell bolt action and used a lot more for hunting?? Carlos would be very disappointed...What will happen if the lib's find out about bows and arrow? Fred Bear said once on a Canadian Grizzly bear hunt to his guide that the bow and arrow has probably killed more humans than any weapon long before the invention of gunpowder...dang better take the 1000yard scope off the old longbow??

Apparently this had been talked about when they were dreaming up C71 and they couldn't work up the guts to do it----the RCMP wanted to prohibit autoloading weapons that use detachable magazines. Still want to. That is why they want updated criteria in the language in section 84 as to definitions.
So, if people think it isn't a slippery slope, consider that one.
