Spot and stalk bear
hey guys and gals,
looking at doing a 4 day bear hunt this year. been up near white court the past couple years and haven't seen all that much, last year I saw more grizzly then black bears.
wouldn't mind a mountain bear hunt, but I'm just looking for any suggestions, not any hot spots, but just a zone or maybe a road, whatever tips or advice you guys can give me that would be great.

Have had some of success in BC with spot and stalk over the past few years. Just glassing south facing slopes/clear cuts. you wont want to go to high at first you'll need to find the green vegetation and they should be out there.
Will be my first year living in Alberta so ill be scouting new areas and starting from almost scratch.

Most areas will have black bears, with spot and stalk you should be looking at whats going to give you the best terrain for glassing

I wouldn't give up on Whitecourt just yet, there's still plenty of blacks up there. Haven't seen much in Virginia Hills area the last few years, but the Blue Ridge side of the highway (32) still seems to produce. Hit the roads running off the haul road past Blue Ridge, get in back and walk in and glass the numerous cutblocks.

If you head out at the right time of year when the green grass is on the cut lines and on the road allowances should be lots of Bears sign in most parts of oil field Alberta

Wait till the last two weeks of may and get up high, good optics and patience. Find south facing slopes and enjoy the spring time!

Find the dandilions on south facing slopes, black bears just cannot resist them for early feed.
