Default 5 pin sight

Just picked up a 5 pin sight and started sighting it in at a buddies farm. I have it at 20,30,40,50 and 60. I have up till 50 sighted in. My question is we then started shooting at 10 and I used my 20 pin but was shooting an inch high. Is this normal? Should I use my 30 at 10? Thanks.

Depending on the bow at yardages under 10 your top (20yard) pin will shoot quite a bit different than you expect.....try shooting at 3-5 yards, you will quickly learn

use your 30 and you will be higher yet ..hold 20 slightly lower . I have a 4 pin sight and use to set one at 10 yds for close gophers and when I bowfished but that's all done now ..

At 3 yards your 50 yard pin will be bang on. At less than 5-7 yards your arrow is still rising to your 1st zero (line of sight). For your setup you probably past zero at 9 yards and kept rising a little. Your second zero will then be at 20 yards as the arrow start to descend. Hope that makes sense

On my bow at 3 yards it's about 73+ yards or almost top of my sight level.

Ya same here.. about 74# on the HHA.

Same as shooting straight down out of a tree stand 76-78# on the dial.

My new sight comes in this coming week. So ill will have to play around again

3 yards on my overdrive with a hoggit is 55. 3 yards on my nitrum turbo with hha kingpin is 59 yards. I think the peep height has quite a bit to do with which pin you actually use for real close shots, as well as sight radius.

Most bow set ups regarless of bow weight etc in that 60-70 lb range is approx 1" high at 10 yards...using 20 yard pin...0-22 yards using 20 yd pin is a deal maker on a even a gopher size critter using small game heads like a Judo...

On a deer sized critter ...I always say "It doesnt matter where in the heart you hit them!"

Try practice at 5-10 yards and see what pin works...Or as suggested... practice enough at said yardage and holding slight low will come natural...

My fixed Pin is dead on at five yards using 40 yard pin...
