I've recently moved to Edmonton and am interested in practicing setting rabbit snares/ skinning and prepping rabbits, however I live in an apartment. Where would I be able to legally snare rabbits in the area? Is it legal to set snares in city limits if I don't "own" the land? Say in the river valley?

It doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I would expect you to catch cats as well as rabbits. That would not be a good thing for the image of trappers.

Well shoot! I hadn't thought about cats! Thanks for the wake-up call, it would be quite a shame to walk out to my snare and find "Fluffy" laying there.
Yes it would be! It's critical to think ahead and consider the possibilities of what could happen. I would reccomend waiting until fall since rabbits are breeding now. I think it would be legal now but just my preference and opinion. Maybe you could find a landowner outside the city who will let you snare rabbits.

Well thank you very much for your input! Any ideas on how one might (safely) find a landowner wishing to rid their property of the fluffy menace?
Use a live trap. Not saying it is easy to catch rabbits but a live trap is way better to explain to neighbors. Peavy mart has some on for cheap a while ago.
