Default Rat boards

Best place to order rat boards?

Halfords are pricey. How about ordering out of states?

Made some out of plastic and plywood. Don't like them as much as a cedar or basswood board.

I went with wire ones from Halfords. I found them cheap considering that one muskrat pays for one $4.60 wire stretcher. Pelts dry quicker on the wire so you need fewer of them. Some say that you'll get better length on wood but for me the benefits of wire outweighs that.

Here's another hot topic. I am with you Dave. I use the close pins also to maintain the length on the sides. I feel that that helps with the length issue.

you can get cedar boards out of prince george aswell. 250 962 7767. might be worth comparing the price.

i've been using both cedar(made my own) and wire. seems that a thin wood boards and wire, equal the same end product, same drying time. but it is nice to be able to flesh the rats, and then pin them on the same board, without having to change stretchers. saves time, good when your doing alot of rats.

I flesh on a medium rat board then move over to the wire. I can see the benefits of saving a step. I have heard of guys using that corrugated sign boards and rounded the edges. There maybe a few election signs to make boards from this spring. IMO take the blue and orange signs down they will make better boards.

I used to use wire for almost all of my rats except for the small ones. Now I use wood for everything, preferably cedar boards...from the guy brag is talking about. Rats dry way faster on wood, not wire. The wood sucks some of the moisture out. The rats form better, and you can pin wherever you want. If using wire, make sure the base conforms to NAFA. A lot of wire stretchers are either to wide or to narrow.

I just picked up 28 split boards for rats for 1.50 a piece. These are looking like they will be the BEES KNEES for fur processing. I bought them from an individual on another site.
