Cool video.

Young curious cougar. Not showing any real predatory intent, but definately curious.

Intense.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I would have shot I think if it took another step forward.

Cool to see, would love to see one in the woods one day. No expert but i thought the cat was curious not predatory.

One thing, the growling i get, sounded real, the roar seemed added in? More movie like. If you have heard cats in the wild, do they make that sound when just watching you?

Great experience and on caught tape.

It was in Fernie, BC.

Nice to have some pepper spray or some kind of lead spray at those moments.

Definitely. The growl was probably real, the other sound was the same stock audio clip of a cougar/mountain lion/whatever else you've heard a million times.

Hate it when people do that.

I'm not an expert either - but that can't didn't look aggressive. Maybe some moron has been feeding him and the cat is curious to see if there are any other hand outs.

Nevertheless that cat would have been dead if I wasn't able to scare it off back into the woods.

Looks like my cat, not aggressive, but interested, not afraid and ready to pounce at any time.

If the Cougar was hungry I doubt he would have seen it. Close encounter with a human and no consequence training at it's finest.

Default Lots of Rocks to throw???

When the cyclist pans down there is a pile of big rocks, just right for scaring curious young mountain lions and teaching them to fear man.

Instead, I see someone who is afraid of the mountain lion, and animals can sense this.

Best thing he did was stand his ground. Trying to flee just triggers a pursuit instinct in predators.

Better thing to do was start throwing rocks. Animals are not used to being hit by rocks. But that is just me.

Reviving numerous old threads just to get the count up to 20 so you get into the buy/sell section doesn't seem like a good start.

Cool video. Thanks for posting it.
I agree with others that it is the cougar that you don't see that you need to worry about.

Yep 20 posts quick lol!!!

Excellent, fascinating video.
Furthers my stance that not EVERY animal needs to be killed just because it is not human. (I am not anti-hunting don't even go there)
I agree with EZM, possibly some idiot has been feeding it sandwiches.

Unfortunately most people see anything moving and they turn into Jimbo

I'm interested in what he wants to sell so bad. No rules on how you get the count up. Now derailing you can get banned for, hmmmm!

Dont under estimate danger of cougar, lady in Canmore killed couple years back. A expert cougar hunter in Bella Coola was checking tracks near town and cougar jumped him few years ago. You are just a big chunk of meat to a cougar.

X2 Curious can turn to testing, to stalking pretty quickly.

Yup, if he would of stumbled and fell or showed any kind of weakness, he’d be toast.
