Challenger Steel Loads
I am sure this has been asked but I am wondering if anyone shoots challenger steel loads for ducks and geese? I like the price as I normally shoot Remington and Kent's but just not in the budget for this year. I did shoot a couple of boxes a few years back and thought they were ok. Just wondering if they are any better or have gone down in quality. I wouldn't mind shooting them to support a Canadian company.
Thanks

If you want to support a Canadian company try SCORE shells, they are based in Manitoba. I used them last year and will again this fall. They are great shells and about the cheapest price you will find.

Hard to tell unless you pattern them in your gun. I see those and Score around town at the moment, and some Fiocchi, along with some leftovers in the major brands. I got lucky and got some 20ga stuff that I wanted. Wholesale had some Blindside there and a smattering of other stuff, CSC and TSE don't keep next to squat for waterfowl rounds, if any, Cdn tire had small amounts of a few types, Basspro only had Rem Hyper and Hevimetal ( their shelves are really bare).
Won't take long to clean things out with what I saw out there this weekend. But, maybe it is early yet, and some shipments will make it here before Sept rolls around. I see rebates are starting to show up across the border, so, maybe things will settle down over the winter.

It was Wholesale that had a skid or two of Score rds out, didn't look at them to see what they were altogether, likely clay range rounds.

Shells
This is always something I hear every season. I need to shoot the cheapest shells for financial reasons. To the original poster I am sorry for my rant. From my experience don't cheap out on shells, if one stops to think about the amount of money tied up in decoys, camo, guns, and then add on fuel for spotting, why cheap out now on the one aspect that sits between your hard work and your reward. This is my two cents, I apologize if I offended anyone.

My son and I just patterned Score's 3 inch #2 steel shot on sunday. My SX3 and his SXP with wad wizard chokes grouped better with the Score's than with Kent fasteels same load. Score is alot cheaper. Im a believer.

#7.5 lead target loads. I picked up a case, gonna try them out next week. Like that they're made in Canada.

we usually have quite a few months where we don't buy any shells,
what I do as I shoot a 10 gauge
and 10 ga ammo can be and is quite expensive
I start around mid February by the time goose season rolls around
I have accumulated a cpl flats of ammo I found this way it gives me a reason to go to a hunting store
and its not the financial burden as buying them all at once
i'm thinking if a person was to watch the prices on the 12 gauge stuff through out the off season he maybe able to get some good deals here and there

No offence taken...All I will say is I shoot a beretta A400...not cheap and also doesn't pattern Kent's to save its life...Not afraid to spend money but if it comes down to me saving a buck and find a shell that works then why not...sorry for not wanting to spend thirty dollars a box on hevi metal or blind sides I just shoot straight.
