Default Some pigeons with Impact Mkll in 30 cal (New Video added Feb 12)

I got a new hobby of airgunning and I am surprised how much airguns has chaged in the last 30 years.

I was using JSB 44 grains pellets and made some video with cell phone and side shot.

I use my iPhone to do all the recording and to edit the video files and to make a simple movie.

iPhone is hosted in a custom made mount and I got it from States. It is called Side Shot mount. They make mounts for smart phones and also for Gopro cameras. To use the gopro, you have to modify the camera and install a new lens and that is too much for me. So I just use my cell phone instead. It wasn't cheap mount, cost me 350 Canadian.

The best part I like is that I see through the scope as if I am hunting normally and the prism transfer the image to the iPhone while the phone is doing the recording.

I will put up the picture here if there is any interest.

Thanks

Yes you need a PCP. There is no life without it.

I got into PCP few months ago and I am getting deep into it.

It just suck you in and your money too😂😂

I am using a 4500psi Caron fibre tank that was $800 and it takes $12 to fill up from a scuba diving place.

I am impressed you could capture the pellet so well with an iPhone. Nice to be able to see where your bullet is impacting.

Sure.

I am using a PCP airgun made in Sweden called FX Impact MKll in 30 caliber. These are not cheap and cost pretty close to $3000
The big advantage of this model is that you change the caliber from 177, 22, and 30 to all he way to 35 cal. You have to buy the caliber specific barrel kit and magazine and you can customize your airgun to specific caliber to shoot accurate and get good velocities.

There are several settings that you can do in your airgun to accommodate the different calibers and pellet weights. The kits are about $600 for each caliber with 1 magazine. Here is the link for the FX website if you want to know more.

FX Airguns

The rifle scope I am using is Nightforce 5-22x56 and that is well known scope to most of the people here.
For recording the shots, I am using my iPhone 10 and using a special mount system that hold up my iPhone. I look through the scope as normal and the mount's prism send the image to the iPhone. I can adjust the focus on the iPhone screen and if I forget to focus, then the video are blurry.

This mounting system costs about Can $350 and it is make in USA and it is called Side Shot mount.

The recording and editing is done in the same iPhone and I use the slow-motion video recording option for my gratifying short movie.

Have you tried shooting bigger game with the .30 cal? Coyotes, fox, coons, badgers etc?
So $3000 for the riflr, $600 for each caliber, $$$ for the Nightforce, $350 for the mounting system and an iPhone.... I wont be telling the wife what that set up is worth... LOL
Ah its just a air gun for the kids to plink with honey...

No I haven't shot anything big with it yet as I am still learning about the airgun. However it does have a lot of potential to put these critters down.

I recently got a kit in 22 and will test it soon. The whole setting has to change now because in 30 cal, I was shooting 44 gr pellets and now I will be shooting in 22 gr pellets in 22 cal. This is where this airgun shines.....

Oh when it comes to the wife, I just tell her that I got a new gun for my son and she becomes very happy because it is for her son :

She don't ask the price and I don't tell her

I found another old video with same 30 cal. I analyzed the dead birds and I noticed that the power/velocity of pellet was too high and the pellet was passing through the poor pigeon even at 124 yards.
Since most of the birds were sitting on top of the silo, they had an advantage and takes a flight and dies away from silo. I had to find each and every one of them and it was fun....

Keep the volume low as I forgot to lower the sound when making the video. Thanks
