Default The Gordon Buck - New Pending World Record NT Mule Deer

Got this email from BlackOvis.com and it is being discussed on rokslide.com

"Pending acceptance by the Pope & Young Club, this once in a generation specimen measures an incredible 348 5/8" gross score. If confirmed by Pope & Young, this would place the Gordon Buck as the largest non-typical mule deer ever taken by a bowhunter and potentially the largest non-typical of any method of take recorded since 1926.

This pending score would land the Gordon Buck as potentially the third largest non-typical mule deer of all time and the largest recorded non-typical taken in the U.S. (the top two mule deer bucks are both from Canada and were taken in 1926 and 1897) "

Also, I should mention it was killed with archery, so pending P&Y world record. A lot of discussion if he is going to strip it or not and if it is a cactus buck or not. B&C does not accept cactus bucks into entry.

Colorado. Pictures and story just went public 30 min ago. DIY hunt on public land in a non premier unit is what they are saying

If it gets stripped where does that put it in B&C? Should be easy to tell if it’s a cactus buck...did he have a twig and 2 berries?

A deer that has damage to his reproductive organs, causes abnormal antler growth.

I'd be slow to start stripping.

I'm pretty sure it has to be stripped to be entered into B&C that will bring the score down a fair bit.

Correct.

That is why Cody Robbins double dropper was only the record for that year, it was because he refused to strip the velvet.

If this was taken on public land, and isn't a "genetically engineered farm buck" that's quite a deer (cactus or not).

Public land, did it by him self, and I have heard it was a "low quality" unit that required very few points

Low end hunt with amazing results. One never knows on hunting and trapping. I guess that's why we all keep heading out for our big opportunity!

The all time NT record Broder buck from Chip Lake,AB grew 355+ naturally over 90 years ago, long before genetically modified farm deer were ever dreamt of.It eclipses #2 by 16” and #3 by 25”,the consensus is (was until now?)it will likely never be beaten....but in light of this new entry coming real close, who knows?
No NT MD has come even close to dethroning the Broder buck in the last century until now, there hasn’t been a buck over 320 in almost 60 years.

Won't be a low point area anymore once word gets out where it was killed.

I wouldn't strip it, deserves to be respected the way he was when he died. That's just me, to each their own. Ugly cuss though, would have to hang him in the basement. Or see what he's worth......
