Alberta Budget - "Alice in Wonderland"

Am I missing something? We are the only, in the world, oil and gas rich economy that is struggling financially.

The Lab techs ect are in contract talks as we speak as well

I knew that the budget covered all of the health care workers but I didn't think about the trade workers. It makes sense since the money is all coming out of the same pot to pay everyone. I wonder what their reaction is to the news?
The doctors are currently in talks as well........up until the budget came out anyway.

We have been with out a contract for darn year a year,our current offer is 0 % for the past year,2% for the current year and cost of living for the third year.

Most people dont think of the trades HunterDave,they are the forgotten ones in the health care system. Yet with out the engineers the boilers would have to be shut off,there goes all your heating,hot water, and steam for sterilization, just to name a few things off the top of my head

Kinda hard to run any business, and thats how health care should be run without good support staff

The budget and future resource projections really show how Alberta really is a one trick pony when it comes to finances.
The reality is that natural gas prices will probably remain low for the foreseeable future. There is just too much of it available to the market. And now with companies drilling liquids rich gas wells they are producing gas that would normally be un-economic at todays prices just to get the condensate.
We all better hope the price of oil remains high.
