I find the pre-rut is the best time to rattle, while the bucks are not quite on the prowl but are staring to establish their dominance. I rattled my best buck in on the 9th of Nov. During the peak of the rut, if a buck is with a doe, he is going to stay with her even if there is a "fight" nearby (or this is the way it is from my experiences). I've heard that the post-rut can be productive as well, but I have never tried it during this time.

Pre Rut is when we have had the most success... just dont forget where you left your antlers and drive over them with your truck... antlers and tires dont go well together...
